Best Japanese Restaurant in London (2026): Why I’ve Been Returning to Yashin Ocean House for Over 10 Years

Finding an exceptional Japanese restaurant in London isn’t difficult. Finding one that you continue returning to for more than a decade is another story.

For me, that place is Yashin Ocean House on Old Brompton Road.
With its modern interior and open kitchen, the restaurant focuses on what truly matters-exceptional food and consistency. There are no flashy signs outside, just a quiet confidence that has earned a loyal following over the years.

The sushi is beautifully balanced, allowing the freshness of the fish to shine without overpowering seasoning. One of the restaurant’s greatest strengths is its long-standing head chef, whose experience and attention to detail are reflected in every dish.

The lunch set is one of the best-value Japanese meals you’ll find in London, including a fresh salad, miso soup, a signature cappuccino-style miso, maki rolls and sushi. The quality is outstanding for the price.

Some of London’s finest restaurants don’t need a big sign outside. They simply let the food speak for itself.

After more than ten years of dining here, I still consider Yashin Ocean House one of London’s true hidden gems-and one of the very best Japanese restaurants in the city.
