Scott’s Richmond Review (2026)

An Honest Review from a London Local

I’ve been visiting Scott’s Richmond for several years. It isn’t somewhere I go every month, but it’s one of those restaurants I return to from time to time—especially when I want to entertain guests or enjoy one of the best riverside settings in London.
If you’re expecting the best meal in the city, you may leave slightly underwhelmed.
If you’re looking for a beautiful location with a relaxed atmosphere, Scott’s Richmond is still well worth considering.

Location – ★★★★★ (10/10)
This is where Scott’s Richmond truly shines.
Situated right on the banks of the River Thames, it offers one of the most picturesque dining settings in southwest London. Whether you’re sitting inside or on the terrace during warmer months, the riverside views create an atmosphere that’s difficult to match.
It’s the kind of place that leaves a great impression on visitors from overseas or clients you’re entertaining.
The location alone is a reason to visit.

Atmosphere – ★★★★★ (9.5/10)

The restaurant feels elegant without being overly formal.

Large windows, plenty of natural light, and the riverside setting make it an enjoyable place to spend a long lunch or relaxed dinner.

It’s not just about the food—it’s about the overall experience.

Food – ★★★☆☆ (6.5/10)
The food is good, but not exceptional.
The seafood is fresh and the menu is well executed, but I wouldn’t describe it as a destination restaurant purely for its cuisine.
Considering London’s dining scene, there are other restaurants at a similar price point that offer more memorable food.
For me, the biggest reason to visit Scott’s Richmond has never been the food.

Service – ★★★☆☆ (6.5/10)

Service has always been professional enough during my visits.

However, it has never felt particularly warm or memorable.

It’s perfectly acceptable, but not something that stands out compared with other premium restaurants in London.

One Thing They Should Improve

There is one detail I’ve noticed on multiple visits.

The white tablecloths and napkins tend to leave small white fibres on clothing.

If you’re wearing a black jacket or dark trousers, you’ll probably notice them afterwards.

It’s a minor issue, but attention to these small details is exactly what separates a good restaurant from an outstanding one.

Value for Money – ★★★☆☆ (6.5/10)
Scott’s Richmond isn’t cheap, but it’s also not among London’s most expensive restaurants.
Personally, I don’t think you’re paying purely for the food.
You’re paying for:
One of Richmond’s best riverside locations
A stylish dining room
A relaxed atmosphere that’s ideal for entertaining guests
When viewed that way, the pricing feels more reasonable.

Mason Journal Verdict
Scott’s Richmond isn’t a restaurant I visit because I expect an unforgettable meal.
I visit because I know exactly what I’m getting:
Beautiful riverside views
A sophisticated atmosphere
A great place to host friends, family or business guests
If your priority is exceptional food, there are better options in London.
But if you’re after a memorable setting with a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, Scott’s Richmond remains one of the best choices in Richmond.

“Scott’s Richmond isn’t about chasing Michelin-star flavours—it’s about enjoying one of London’s most beautiful riverside dining experiences. For me, it’s a place I return to for the atmosphere, not the menu.”
